Would you like to improve the comfort of your home, reduce your carbon footprint and save money?

Then come along to our Retrofit Fair on Saturday 11th September from 9am to 3pm in the forecourt of Stroud Subscription Rooms. We will be showcasing a number of aspects of retrofit to help develop awareness and demystify the topic. If you haven’t heard the term before, retrofit refers to any measures that will reduce the carbon emissions of a building while maintaining good levels of comfort and reducing energy bills.

At the centre of the fair will be a model house along with experts on fabric-related retrofit to share knowledge on:

  • heat loss assessments

  • insulation

  • avoiding damp issues

Additional stands will cover:

  • Heat pumps (with a focus on Air Source Heat Pumps) - Cotswold Energy

  • Solar panels - Roxon Electrical, Heliomotion

  • Mechanical ventilation & heat recovery (MVHR) - Earthwise

Other contributors include:

  • Stroud District Council presenting aspects of CN2030 related to retrofit and existing projects and assistance

  • South Glos. & Stroud College which is creating a retrofit centre of excellence for South West and developing capacity for training of the future.

  • SWEA/Warm & Well providing advice, particularly for those needing help with funding or in energy poverty and information on grants (RHI and any successor) and low interested loans

Now would be an excellent time to consider retrofitting your home. Bank of England base rates are at an all-time low and even cash ISAs are only attracting between 0.8 and 1.7% interest. By contrast, information from Stroud District Council shows that improving the insulation of your home will give you a return on investment of 5-10% with the possibility of up to 16% if you make really good choices.’

Simon Pickering, Co-Chair, GFirst Energy Group

We do hope you will come along and find out more. Look out for updates on this event here, on Instagram and Facebook.
